Olga B Foraponova
Olga is one of the famous US Ballroom dancers. She is two-time undefeated US National Professional Champion in Smooth dances, many-time US National Professional finalist in Ballroom dances, World Championship finalist in Ballroom Showdance program. Before she came to United Sates in 1992 she represented Russia in Ballroom, Latin and International ten-dance category. Here is shortcut from Olga's interview:
"As a young girl I was among thousands of young people in Russia involved in Dancesport. It was and still is a popular, athletic, glamorous and challenging activity. I remember costumes, performances and meeting all sorts of new friends. There was practice, practice, practice- almost everyday for 2-4 hours. There was also strict discipline- and tough goals. My mother took me to my first lesson and later on my father cried when I began to win competition events. I was only allowed to pursue my love of dancing provided that I did well in school.
Because of the early experience in my life, I was able to become a professional dancer and later on achieve my dream of becoming a championship dancer. Furthermore, I think that dancesport foundation helped me acquire focus, hard work and team building that has lead to other successes in my life."
